Destination and Cruise Wedding Legalities

by Gary Goerk on 12/05/16

It's easy to get all wrapped up in planning a wonderful dream wedding vacation at a resort in another country or on a cruise ship, and forget about the fact that marriage requirements in those countries will most likely be different than in the US and even vary from country to country, section to section.

The best way to find out all the requirements is to directly or indirectly communicate with your destination resort or cruise wedding planner/activities planner.  This can be done directly with the on-site or cruise ship planner, or you can work through your travel agent.  However, even before you choose a destination or cruise, it is best to find out the requirements. It could influence your initial planning.

For example, there may be varying requirements regarding a waiting period, time spent in the country, birth place documents, divorce documents, to name a few.  Make sure all is in order so there are no last miniute "hitches" (pun intended).

Also check out the wedding/honeymoon packages the resorts and cruise lines offer.  They range from A to Z and usually include complimentary amenities and accommodations of some kind.  Your travel agent can make recommendations based on your needs.

Group Cruising--Plan Ahead,Way Ahead

by Gary Goerk on 12/05/16

When planning a group cruise you need to plan ahead--way ahead--especially if you plan to cruise during the summer months, on holidays, or school holidays (i.e. Spring Break). Other considerations include getting the ship and itinerary you want, and the appropriate cabin selection to meet your group's needs. Travel experts suggest planning at least a year ahead of time. Happy cruising!!
